"WE ARE ALL CHILDREN OF THE WORLD" Project - June 2003 Essence Graduates

The graduates of Essence 2003 chose as a project to refurbish and improve an all purpose center for children in Jerusalem. The group members, besides volunteering themselves, mobilized others to assist them in fulfilling their mission to improve the quality of life and immediate surroundings of the center as much as possible. The all purpose center serves as a community youth service, and is operated most of the day to preserve the family framework and strengthen the relation between parents and their children.

About 17 of the Essence group members together with other volunteers arrived during the morning hours to the center, bringing with them furniture, electrical equipment, plants, toys, books and additional equipment for the center's use and a whole lot of energy for painting and improving the appearance and atmosphere of the center.

All of the materials and equipment were gathered by the group from donations of private citizens and companies alike that answered the call to contribute and to do all within their power -whether it be in products, money or work. The willingness of people to donate and to help simply overwhelms the heart and gives additional strength for future operations of this nature.

On 22.10.2003, the Essence group organised a continuation to the original project - a fun afternoon at the "Kef-Tzuba" Amusement Park at Kibbutz Tzuba.

We all hope that this project will bring about increased joyfulness for the kids and their parents and inspire renewed energy to the
local staff. The willingness to give, to donate, to DO, to create and to cause a change, even if only at a small corner of the world, a corner that now becomes warmer, more human, cheerful and heartwarming, reaps a great deal to all those involved with the project - those that organized and executed the project, the kids, and the donors as well.
