The graduates of the November 2002 Essence seminar organized a day of fun for the children of the "Reut" Boarding School in Jerusalem.  This extraordinary event took place on Monday May 12, 200, beginning in the early morning and lasting till mid afternoon. The kids of "Reut" of Malcha, Jerusalem have experienced much suffering and disappointments in their young lives. They were all removed from their homes by court order  - under a variety of very painful circumstances (not fit to be published here). These children, aged 8 – 14, are being raised and educated in the institution and of course are missing out on all those important things that an institution of this type simply cannot provide them, things that are taken for granted by children growing up in normal homes. The graduates volunteered to give the kids some of those things that they are so lacking. Every child personally received printed T-shirts, sweat shirts, bedding, towels, hats, pictures, toys, and carpets. In addition, several computers were donated as well as other personal items. The animal corner was rehabilitated, and the kids can now raise rabbits, hamsters and chicks.  A  hot-house was constructed so that the kids, within the framework of their studies, can grow plants and spices. In addition, a class from a school in Rishon LeTzion volunteered to prepare for each child a personal gift made up of a present, candies and a personal letter. The children also received from the graduates a framed picture as a souvenir of the day. And as a special treat the graduates organized for the kids a fun day at "Eretz Berisheet"- The Land of Genesis, a theme park set in the style of the times of our forefather Abraham. The kids all had a great time!  Activities included molding in clay, mosaics, (the kids of course kept their creations as an additional souvenir o the day), camel riding, music and dancing, ice cream, and  an afternoon meal fit for a king! The graduates became quite attached to the kids and were themselves overwhelmed by the events of the day, the sparkle in the kids' eyes, and the personal contact and warmth that the kids received from the graduates. This very emotional day was etched permanently in the memories of all involved- kids and graduates alike!
